WHAT IS BUILD IT?
BUILD IT is a baseless builder gel which is available in ten beautiful shades. It can be applied in 1-3 structured layers to create incredibly strong short-medium length overlays and extensions. Build It has been designed to have an effortless self level formula. Build it can be used as a thin base layer or another Magpie base coat can be applied before Build It if technicians prefer.
IS BUILD IT HEMA FREE?
YES! Build It is HEMA, IBOA, IBOMA & DI-HEMA free, Vegan Friendly & Cruelty free.
WHICH CLIENTS ARE SUITABLE TO WEAR BUILD IT?
BUILD IT is a very versatile product. It will suit many. It is perfect for clients who are looking to strengthen their nails with a natural looking overlay or extensions. Clients can have Build It soaked off or infilled. Gel colours and our other art lines can be applied on top of Build It enhancements or they can simply be top coated.
WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN BUILD ME UP AND BUILD IT?
Build Me Up is a harder gel system than Build It, which means it can crack and chip if it is not applied in 2-3 structured layers. Build It is slightly softer so can be applied in 1 structured layer without cracking. We recommend infilling Build Me Up however Build it is excellent for soaking off or infilling.
CAN YOU INFILL BMU USING BUILD IT?
YES you can. BUILD ME UP is slightly harder which means BUILD IT can go on top without any issues.
WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN GIVE ME STRENGTH AND BUILD IT?
Build It is thicker in consistency and stronger than Give Me Strength. Give Me Strength can be applied in single layers to add strength to natural nails or applied in structured slip layers. We recommend applying Build It in 1-3 structured slip layers. Both can be infilled or soaked off. Some clients’ natural nails are too flexible or long for a structure gel like Give Me Strength – when they put pressure on their nails this can result in pocket lifting. Therefore by using a stronger product like Build It instead of Give Me Strength for this particular clients nails, the flexibility is reduced and pocket lifting is prevented.
CAN GIVE ME STRENGTH BE INFILLED USING BUILT IT?
BUILD IT is a stronger product than GIVE ME STRENGTH so we would recommend soaking off GMS or filing it down to the base layer before applying.
DOES BUILD IT NEED A SEPARATE BASE COAT?
BUILD IT is a baseless system. Make sure to apply the first layer as you would a base coat, nice and thin making sure to seal every free edge and cure for 60 seconds.If preferred BUILD IT can also be used alongside any Magpie Base.
WHAT IS THE CONSISTENCY LIKE?
The consistency of BUILD IT is not too thick, but not too thin that it runs into the side walls. It holds shape perfectly during application whilst self leveling effortlessly. Please check out our recent application reel by clicking here where you can hopefully see this.
IS BUILD IT GOING TO REPLACE BUILD ME UP?

Magpie Educator Sarah Mills @bysarahnailartist created her seamless ombréd set using KEEP KARMA, DEJA BLUE and PINK ELEPHANT.
Magpie BA Rebekah Pritchard @thebeautyspotstreetly began by creating her overlay base using GAG PINK and GMS ROSA, then applied TOP IT OFF CLEAR. Next, using DEJA BLUE she created the main swirl with lots of movement. While DEJA BLUE was still wet, she sprinkled ICE QUEEN ACRYLIC POWDER over the wet gel and cured. Rebekah repeated her swirl and acrylic technique steps using colours – DAISY CHAIN, PEPPERMINT, SANDY TOES, CELESTIAL SKY. Finally she created additional swirls using GOLD GEL PAINT but did not add acrylic powder to the gold. The contrast between matte and shiny added to the effect of this trending swirl style.

Magpie BA Alice Sanderson @onenailtorulethemall applied two coats of GMS CUPID, cured, then applied DAISY CHAIN, DEJA BLUE, KEEP KARMA, STRAWBERRY LACE, MEDOW MAMA, PICCA-LILLY & SEASHELL with a brush stroke motion using GEL BRUSH 4, all without curing so they slightly blended. Then Alice cured and added any colours that needed an extra brush stroke, dabbed on some GOLD LEAF and topped with LAD to finish her abstract tip design.

We love Holly Marie’s @hollymarie_123 ombré french design! Holly shares how she created her stunning set below,
“I selected 7 colours from the AMERICAN SUMMER COLLECTION and started with LOUISIANA for the thumb, MARYLAND & GEORGIA for the pointer, HOLLYWOOD for the middle, SANTA MONICA & BEVERLY HILLS for the ring and SAN FRANCISCO for the pinkie.
To create the ombré, I brought the two colours together in the middle and using an OMBRÉ brush tapped gently down the middle where the colours meet…. tap, tap, tap… this bleeds the colours together to create the blended colour. The blend doesn’t need to be perfect at this point. Cure the first coat. Repeat the steps for the second layer.
Using gel paint I lined the smile line using a small detailer brush. I used a MATTE TOP COAT first to help even out the surface of the nail. Then finished with a NO WIPE TOP COAT.”

Grace Regan @g.nailedme told us, “The American summer collection is an absolute dream! The colours are so pigmented making them perfect for nail art! I wanted to create something fun to show off the amazing collection.”
Grace started off by prepping the nail using magpie’s PREP & DEHYDRATE and then used her favourite base GET A GRIP PEACH followed by GIVE ME STRENGTH PEACH to create a lovely natural looking base colour. Magpie gel colours are a very pigmented, creamy, full coverage formula which makes them fantastic for nail art. Magpie Brand Ambassador Jema Baynes @jellybayn_nails showcases each colour from our SWEET TREAT collection in her wonderful spring smiley design above.
Magpie Brand Partner Beckie Jones @boodoesnails shares her top tips for creating a perfect ombré design, “Arrange your colours with consideration to which blend well together (bear in mind blue and yellow will blend into green, purple and yellow will make brown etc), luckily enough Magpie arranged this collection in the perfect order in their promo.
Using your first colour to the left hand side of the nail, thin to win for this technique! Apply your second colour to the other half of the nail. Using your OMBRÉ BRUSH, blend the two colours down the middle. Repeat on every nail and cure. Repeat with a second coat and cure. Apply either VELVET TOP or GMS and cure. Buff over with a 100/180 grit buffer. Give the nails a thorough cleanse with PREP & DEHYDRATE. Paint on your squiggly swirls with BLACK GEL PAINT and cure. Nice and tight curves and chunky lines are the key!
Then using your CHROME TOOL, apply ELIZABETH CHROME DUST to the cured BLACK GEL PAINT, giving it a good rub over with the SILICONE TOOL ensure maximum shine. Give the nails a vigorous brush with the SOFT DUSTER BRUSH to disperse any unwanted chrome. Top it off with LAD, wipe the inhibition layer with MAGPIE CLEANSER and finish with your favourite CUTICLE OIL – mines either Mojito or Coconut!”
Magpie Senior Educator June Gilbert @junegilbert_nailartist applied her chosen base colours, removed the inhibition layers with PREP & DEHYDRATE, then used the PREMIUM DETAILER 11 BRUSH to create pin stripes accent nails featuring our SWEET TREAT collection. She finished with TOP IT OFF CLEAR.
Magpie Ambassador Nicola Dannatt @redcarpetnailbotique shares the steps to her beautiful ombré floral design below:
❤︎︎ Apply Gel Colours JELLY BABY and FIZZY PEACHES to each side of the nail, blending the colours in the middle with light downward strokes. Cure 60 seconds then repeat for 2nd coat.
❤︎︎ Apply a thin even layer of FULL FOILED. Cure for 120 seconds then leave to cool for 60 seconds.
❤︎︎ Apply Foil FREDDIE.
❤︎︎ Using ROSE GOLD GEL PAINT, apply dots to centre of each flower and cure for 60 seconds.
❤︎︎ Apply an even layer of GIVE ME STRENGTH CLEAR (GMS) to entire nail and cure for 60 seconds.
❤︎︎ Finish with TOP IT OFF CLEAR.
❤︎︎Plain Nails: Apply two coats of JELLY BABY , finish with TOP IT OFF HOLO GLITZ.

❤︎︎ Find things that inspire you, art is everywhere and don’t be afraid to put your spin on things.
❤︎︎ Mind block? I look through my magpie colours and choose a combination that speaks to me. Do your base first and normally other ideas will follow.
❤︎︎ A vertical ombré can be achieved by using the gel bottle brush, don’t forget to wipe before putting it back into the bottle! Or by using an OMBRÉ BRUSH with gentle strokes. Don’t worry if it’s not perfect, top coat brings it all together.
❤︎︎ GEL PAINTS! I use them on most of my sets, they stay in place when working on a different finger.
❤︎︎ Wipe the base colour with PREP & DEHYDRATE before painting nail art.
❤︎︎ Nail art is always a work in progress, not entirely sure you like it? Keep going!
❤︎︎ Oh and magpie NAIL ART BRUSHES – I LOVE working with them!
We love the unique effect our latest magnetic dusts give. All of our dusts have an incredibly super sparkly finish applied to the nail, however our latest dusts FELIX & KITTY can also be used with our MAGNET to give the effect of moving shimmer.
To use KITTY and FELIX we recommend mixing approx 5% dust with 95% Magpie GIVE ME STRENGTH CLEAR. You can add more or less if you prefer. Paint the mix onto nails, hover the tip of our magnet over the uncured mix and then cure. Check out Mrs Magpie’s video of her stunning nails showing off the magnetic shimmer here.
Magpie Ambassador Jordan Ward @jordanward_nailartist_x used a base of PERFECT POLY SWEET PEACH for her incredible design. After curing she removed the inhibition layer with P&D. Then she mixed GMS, KITTY & ECLIPSE painted and cured. Next she mixed GMS with DARK RED JELLIE to create a sheer pink, painted on top and cured. To finish her design Jordan added art using the BLACK GEL PAINT and DETAILER BRUSH then TOP IF OFF CLEAR.

❤︎ Mix 5 parts to 1 part of Clear GMS and KITTY. Apply on the nail with a GEL BRUSH and move the magnetic particles around the nail with Magpie’s cat eye MAGNET. When happy with the placement cure for 60 seconds.
❤︎ Randomly brush on PINK, YELLOW, BLUE, GREEN & PURPLE JELLIES. Blend them into each other with an ILLUSTRATOR brush. Cure when happy with the blend for 60 seconds.
❤︎Top coat with your favourite Magpie TOP COAT and cure for 60 seconds.

Magpie Ambassador Nicola Dannatt @redcarpetnailbotique used a base of RUBBER UP and GMS. She removed the inhibition layer with P&D then mixedGMS with FELIX (50:50) then applied FELIX dust to the nails. Nicola created cats eyes by hovering the tip of the MAGNET in a diagonal motion at each corner of the nail. Then using she blended RED, YELLOW, GREEN, BLUE & PINK JELLIES and cured to create her stunning rainbow design. To finish Nicola topped with DON’T BE TACKY gel top coat.
Our cats eye dusts can also be chromed as Magpie Ambassador Jordan Ward @jordanward_nailartist_x showcases in her gorgeous celestial design. She used a base of PERFECT POLY SWEET PEACH again then applied details using BLACK GEL PAINT and chromed with KITTY.

Our new LED LIGHT WITH SPONGE is a fantastic tool to help techs easily encapsulate nail art products such as DRIED FLOWERS, SHELLS, SHAPES, ANGEL PAPER and more! Sometimes these products can be difficult to encapsulate against the curve of a nail or move position when clients cure in a lamp. Our torch has a spongy silicone head which allows techs to flatten products whilst flash curing.
To use our torch simply apply a layer of GIVE ME STRENGTH CLEAR to the area you are placing nail art. Place the nail art product onto the uncured GMS then press our LED SPONGE TORCH on top. The pressure and light will cure the object to the cure of the nail making it much easier to encapsulate. Our sponge is removable, enabling the light to be used to flash cure any gels and also to use alongside our popular FULL ON TIPS. Gel doesn’t cure on the silicone sponge and you can clean it on a lint free roller. Watch our torch in action by clicking here.

Magpie Brand Ambassador, Adelina Walker @hellobeautifulnailbar shares steps to her amazing black ombré valentines design below:
❤︎ Apply your base gels and cure. Apply chosen colour and cure for 60 seconds. Apply VELVET TOP on the entire nail and cure for 30 seconds. Apply the CRUELLA pigment and create an ombré effect using the APPLICATOR brush. Once happy with the effect, cure for the remaining 30 seconds.
❤︎ Encapsulate the design using GIVE ME STRENGTH CLEAR. Apply an even layer of GMS and add the BLACK HEART SHAPES into the wet layer. Once happy with this step, fully cure for 60 seconds.
❤︎ Encapsulate the whole nail one last time with GMS clear and then apply LIKE A DIAMOND top coat.
Magpie Brand Ambassador Rebekah Pritchard @thebeautyspotstreetly used a base of GET A GRIP PINK followed by GIVE ME STRENGTH ROSA. Then she applied SNOOPY FOIL and used the BLACK & RED GEL PAINTS to create hearts. Finally she topped with VELVET to create a matte finish.

❤︎ Paint your base colours of HONO-LULU, COTTON CANDY, DOLY DAYDREAM & COME WHAT MAY. Cure for 60 seconds.
❤︎ Remove the inhibition layer using PREP & DEHYDRATE ready for nail art.
❤︎ Use the STRIPER BRUSH to apply chevrons to the tip using HONO-LULU and COTTON CANDY. Cure for 60 seconds.
❤︎ Add love heart and polka dots using the DOTTING tool and GEL COLOURS. Cure for 60 seconds.
❤︎ Encapsulate nail art using GIVE ME STRENGTH and cure for 60 seconds.
❤︎ Finish with LIKE A DIAMOND.
